Zach Banner, Offensive Tackle

Last season was supposed to be a breakout year for the offensive tackle from USC, but after suffering an ACL tear during the first game of the season, Banner has slowly faded away from the minds of Steelers fans. As someone who has constantly battled adversity, if Banner can silence the critics and have his breakout season, it would be a story to remember.

Mike Tomlin has asked Banner to step up this year and be a leader for the young offensive line, which I think is excellent on Tomlin’s part. It still is a challenge for Banner as he battles his way back into the lineup. Banner’s adversity makes him the most qualified to lead the rookies and even the entire offensive line room. Even if he is not named a starter, this will not hinder his ability to step up this season and be an essential player on the team.

Banner has the work ethic, mentality, and strength to be among the best in the game and while there is a possibility he does not start to begin the season, there is still hope that he will find himself back where he started in 2020 after an impressive pre-season.
