Devin Bush: #55

Of the young players on this list, Devin Bush might be the best bet to receive a second contract with the team or maybe even play out his entire career as a Pittsburgh Steeler. However, there is still a decent amount of risk involved here.

After his first two seasons in the NFL, Bush has played in just 21 games, as his sophomore campaign was cut to just 5 contests after an ACL tear. Now Bush is entering his 3rd NFL season, but he hasn’t quite lived up to the lofty expectations as a former 10th overall draft choice.

This obviously isn’t to say that he’s not going to. However, he needs to continue to show improvement if the Steelers are going to make him one of the highest-paid linebackers in the NFL when his rookie contract is over with. Next year, the team will need to decide whether or not they will give him the fifth-year option. This seems like an easy decision, as long as he stays healthy in 2021.

Still, Bush’s agent is the infamous Drew Rosenhaus – the agent most notorious for making his players the highest-paid in the NFL. In today’s league, linebackers are quickly becoming much like the running backs of the defense, where many teams choose to draft and replace rather than making long-term investments with lots of money involved. The Steelers like to pay linebackers more than most teams, and I expect Bush to get a second contract. However, there is still a bit of a risk that you could be getting just another 3 years out of this jersey purchase.
