The Pittsburgh Steelers have a number of young players in pivotal roles this year. Here are four who will either impress us or disappoint us in 2021.

With Organized Team Activities in the books, Pittsburgh Steelers fans begin to look ahead to try to gain additional insight as to what we might see in minicamp on June 15th-17th. For many players, we already have a very good idea of what to expect.

Veterans like Ben Roethlisberger, Cameron Heyward, and T.J. Watt are well-emersed into their roles with the team, and we can expect them to be a big part of Pittsburgh’s game plan in 2021. But what about some mostly unproven players who will be stepping into much larger roles this year.

With all of the roster turnover this offseason, the Steelers have several unproven players who will be forced to fill some big holes this offseason. They will either prove to impress us or disappoint us with their performances in 2021:

CB Cameron Sutton

I like Cameron Sutton a lot. During a part-time role over the past four seasons, Sutton seemed to get better each year, and always made some sort of impact when he was on the field. Though he has looked very promising thus far, we still don’t know exactly how he is going to look in a full-time role or what all that will entail.

With both Steven Nelson and Mike Hilton gone, so much depends on Sutton this year, and expectations are through the roof. Because of his skill set, Sutton has the ability to play both inside and outside, but it remains to be seen how he will be used in nickel and dime packages.

Many fans are already talking up Cameron Sutton like he’s going to be the next superstar defender on the Steelers, but I would caution against such lofty expectations. Though he has shown great instincts at times, Sutton is still an undersized cornerback with modest athletic traits. I’m predicting that he’s going to be good, but if you view him as a future Pro Bowler, you may be disappointed.
