OT Chukwuma Okorafor

I don’t know of a lot of fans who are particularly high on Chukwuma Okorafor right now. This could be due to the less-than-stellar season he put together in 2020. Zach Banner beat Okorafor out for the starting right tackle job last season, but Pittsburgh’s swing tackle was forced to step in and start 15 games in his absence.

Needless to say, Okorafor graded out as one of the worst offensive tackles in the league last year. If you are questioning why put on the tape of any random game last season, and it’s not hard to see where he struggles. At times, Okorafor did an admirable job holding up against quality football players – and he had some difficult tasks against players like Myles Garrett and J.J. Watt last year. However, the young offensive tackle really struggles with power – both anchoring in pass protection and getting push on the ground.

Now in his fourth NFL season, Okorafor will look to improve in this area of his game. However, he will do so as the all-important starting left tackle this season. He could either take a step up and really impress fans in 2021 or he remains the underwhelming tackle he’s looked like to begin his career.

I certainly hope that all four of these young players can take another step forward in 2021, and there is plenty of reason to think that they each could do so. These Pittsburgh Steelers will either prove to exceed our expectations or fall short this year in very important roles.
