Richard Sherman, cornerback

Both Mike Hilton and Steven Nelson will not be back with the team and that is a huge problem for this secondary. Cam Sutton can replace one of those players but the struggle will be finding the other filler. There is little to no depth and experience behind the two starting outside corners and that is a huge issue moving forward.

Richard Sherman was once the best cornerback in the NFL and is still a solid starter. The Steelers need someone that could come in and play smart on the outside or slot position so Sutton can fill the other void. This free agent has been mentioned with the team recently because of an interview segment done with Stephen A. Smith on ESPN. He wants to play for a contender and Sherman would get his wish granted by joining the black and gold.

Signing him would allow Sutton to move back into the slot and have Joe Haden stay opposite of this free agent. It would make fans a lot more comfortable going into the season knowing this player is coming into the building. It seems like the team is fine with the players that they have currently on the roster and hope that one of these unproven players will jump out onto the scene when the season begins. That is a nice thought process but bringing in an experienced player like Sherman would be a huge addition to a lacking cornerback room at the moment.
