Melvin Ingram, outside linebacker

Melvin Ingram is coming off of a knee injury during the 2020 season and he is getting older, so that could raise some red flags. When healthy, this player is an absolute monster on the edge against any team that he faces. Ingram would be a huge addition to the scarce of talent behind the current starters of T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith.

Both starters on the roster seem like they will be a good tandem but Ingram is someone proven in this league. Highsmith is a very promising young player but this free agent would become the instant starter for the Steelers. Both Watt and Ingram would make for a formidable duo rushing after the passer with Highsmith coming on to play in certain situations.

Since Bud Dupree left, this position has a huge lack of experience and depth. The black and gold need to find that experience and adding this player will provide stability. Ingram would not only bring the team much-needed depth, but he would also provide immediate competition for Highsmith for that coveted starting spot opposite of Watt. It would be a dynamic trio for those three and something special to watch on Sundays.

Many fans have not thought about adding a player like Ingram because he would be an uncommon signing for the team as he is over 30 and coming off an injury, but he would be a welcomed addition.
