The Steelers will have a lot of evaluating to do before deciding on the final 53 man roster but these players could surprise many.

People around Steelers Nation have made a lot of assumptions about who will make the team coming out of training camp. The final 53 man roster always gets attention as the pre-season comes to a close. The issue with final roster predictions this early out is that no one knows exactly how these players will shake out and perform during practices and pre-season contests under the lights.

Both veterans and rookies will be released when the official cut-down day occurs and some of those names will surprise fans. It will be a shock by some of the names that are released and kept on the initial final 53 to begin the season as the team will also scramble to bring some of those cuts back on with the practice squad.

Jordan Berry, punter

Pressley Harvin III was a late-round draft choice in 2021 and that makes him seem like a sure-fire bet to make the squad. Many forget however that Colin Holba, a drafted long snapper, was released the same year and was never brought back. Harvin is an interesting and unique punter that seems like the favorite to make the team. The issue is he has proven nothing yet at the NFL level.

It is his spot to lose but Jordan Berry has been with the Steelers for many years now. Berry is getting no thought of making this team especially after the selection of Harvin in the draft. Berry needs to prove himself yet again after coming off a decent season after the black and gold tried going in a different direction earlier in 2020.
