Shakur Brown, cornerback

Shakur Brown signed with the Steelers after going undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft. This seems like a potential steal for this franchise as some had Brown ranked as a third-round prospect. He did fall out of the draft but that was because of his size mostly and not his on-field production. He stands at 5’11 and 190 pounds. He might not be the ideal size for an NFL corner but he was able to produce at a very high level in one of the toughest conferences in college football. Michigan State has been struggling to stay competitive over the last couple of seasons but the scrambled program is not Brown’s fault.

This is a player that could be molded into something special immediately or grown over time. He could challenge for the starting slot-corner spot if everything works out for him in the pre-season part of the schedule. It will be interesting to see what this player can do in his rookie season and beyond as long as he can stick around and continue to improve. He was one of the best corners in the Big Ten and that should speak volumes as the black and gold look for answers across their lineup. Not only could Brown make the 53 but he could also contribute both on special teams and the actual defense throughout the year.
