Josh Dobbs, quarterback

Josh Dobbs has become a player that Ben Roethlisberger relies on and trusts since he came into the NFL. Dobbs is a very smart individual and with time, has gained the starting quarterback’s trust and insight during game days.

Dwayne Haskins was brought in during the offseason and has garnered a lot of praise during mini-camp from all of his coaches and teammates. The former first-round selection by Washington is trying to find his footing in the NFL. He struggled both on and off the field while being a part of The Football Team. He now comes to Pittsburgh as a man looking for a new start and hopefully one that molds him back into a promising young quarterback.

Mason Rudolph and Roethlisberger will be making the final 53 but that third spot is up for grabs. It seems like that spot is Haskins to lose this pre-season. He has the pedigree but Dobbs has the trust of the starting quarterback. Those will be two things that the Steelers will have to consider as they decide between the two. Dobbs also brings an aspect of mobility with him that gives a team an advantage in practice while preparing against Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens. It does seem that Haskins will have to struggle immensely to not make this team as the third quarterback but do not count out Dobbs in the pre-season. He has countlessly won this spot for years now and it will take a lot to get him off this roster.
