The Pittsburgh Steelers have always been known as a physical team, and that starts up front.

The team has had some great offensive lineman in its history, and after David DeCastro’s release, we’re looking back on the best to ever wear the black and goldDavid DeCastro’s time in Pittsburgh came to a sudden and surprising end when the team announced that they released him on June 24.

While his release came as a surprise and serves as a big hit to the group that looks to protect Ben Roethlisberger this offseason, that should not take away from what he meant to the team during his nine years in Pittsburgh. DeCastro is among the best offensive lineman to ever wear a Steelers uniform, and the following slides will show where he ranks all time.

Honorable Mention Jeff Hartings

Jeff Hartings spent six years in a Steelers uniform, and like all of the players ahead of him, was an interior offensive lineman, playing center while in Pittsburgh.

Hartings came over as a free agent in 2001, after leaving the Detroit Lions, and served as a key piece of the offensive line in the early 2000s. During his time in Pittsburgh, he was a Super Bowl Champion, was named to two Pro Bowls, and was a two-time All-Pro selection.
