There are certain members of the Pittsburgh Steelers who are associated with the use of TikTok. Linebacker Devin Bush doesn’t want any part of it.

Social media is more prevalent today than it has ever been. There are numerous platforms that connect players to fans more than ever before, and many NFL stars have used these platforms as a way to express their personalities outside of football.

Steelers fans who use these social media platforms are well aware of which players are on social media and how often they post. One platform that has been associated with the Steelers is TikTok. There is probably one player who quickly came to mind.

Outside of being a quality NFL wide receiver, JuJu Smith-Schuster is known for his presence on social media – primarily TikTok. This is something that caused a few veterans to approach him last season when they thought that his pre-game dancing on opposing teams’ emblems was becoming a distraction. After that, JuJu announced that he would stop the dancing and that it was the right thing today.

Recently, linebacker Devin Bush, a frequent Twitter user, expressed his distaste for TikTok. Here’s what he had to say:

This tweet, of course, may have had nothing to do with his teammates, and there could have been a different driving factor as to why he would post this. However, many fans are jumping to the conclusion that this was a jab at a few of his teammates for their frequent TikTok use – particularly JuJu Smith-Schuster and Chase Claypool.

Steelers fans shouldn’t worry about social media

There are fans who are clearly on the opposite ends of this. Some fans don’t care at all about where and when players use social media, while others say players should be focused solely on playing football when they are on the clock. When it all comes down to it, I don’t think Steelers fans need to be worried.

Social media isn’t outlawed by teams, so players still have the right to use it as they see appropriate. This is going to look different depending on the organization and the individual players.

Just like Devin Bush has the right to express his distaste for grown men using TikTok around him, JuJu Smith-Schuster has the right to continue to use social media to express himself. The NFL or the Steelers organization will never have the power to outlaw their players from social media. If you are not a fan of this, I understand. However, this is something you are just going to have to get used to. It’s not going away anytime soon.

Regardless of your stance on players’ use of TikTok and social media, we should all agree that it’s everyone’s right to be able to use these platforms.
