QB Joshua Dobbs
Between Shakur Brown and Joshua Dobbs, it’s honestly hard for me to decide which player has a better chance to stick around between the two. While I would probably give the edge to Brown because of the severe lack of depth at the cornerback situation, I can certainly see a world in which Dobbs is Pittsburgh’s third quarterback in 2021.
Though odds might suggest that Dwayne Haskins will be the player to round out the quarterback room, I wouldn’t discredit how much Ben Roethlisberger and the coaching staff love having Dobbs around. Despite being just 26 years old, Dobbs offers wisdom beyond his years and was responsible for dialing up some touchdown plays late in the season for Big Ben.
In addition, Dobbs is the only quarterback on the roster with any sort of mobility, and he’s excellent on the move. I can see Matt Canada loving to have a player like Dobbs in his new-look offense who can come in on occasion to run presnap motion and give defenses a look they are not used to seeing with Roethlisberger.
Dobbs also holds value as a scout team quarterback when preparing for mobile passers like Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen. Josh Dobbs is a smart competitor with great leadership skills, and the Steelers may elect to keep him around in 2021.
