OG Trai Turner

Trai Turner has a chance to knock this contract out of the ballpark. However, it’s going to take a much better season from him in 2021 than when he had through 9 games last year. In 2020, Turner was battling through both injuries and COVID-19, so it stands to reason that he could improve on the Steelers this season.

It could also help that he’s got a fiery new offensive line coach in Adrian Klemm and an innovative offensive coordinator in Matt Canada who could help make the offense less predictable and alleviate some of the pressure off his offensive line.

Players don’t become 5-time Pro Bowlers for no reason at all, and Turner has been one of the better guards in football since entering the league in 2014. The veteran turned 28 years old in June and should still have plenty left in the tank.

Because of his injuries and poor play in 2020, the Steelers were able to sign Trai Turner to a one-year, $3 million deal, according to Over the Cap. By releasing David DeCastro and signing Turner, the team actually saved a good deal of money that they may choose to use elsewhere. If Turner can return to form and fill the void left by DeCastro, his contract could prove to be a steal.
