J.J. Watt, DE, Arizona Cardinals

Many Steelers fans probably thought they had heard the last of the J.J. Watt talk to the black and gold after he signed a contract with the Arizona Cardinals. Well, that is not the case as he will always be connected to the Steelers as long as his brothers play here. Many fans were holding onto hope that the oldest Watt brother would be joining the team but it didn’t make sense at the time. Timing is a very important thing when looking to add in free agency. The need has to be there and more importantly, the funding. The Steelers had no cap space to offer Watt a deal and he is best fitted to play for a 4-3 scheme.

The only thing is Watt has more years on his NFL career. He has had injury issues recently and that could lead to a downgrade in his value in the future. Not only that but as he ages, his role and amount of playing time will probably decrease as well. Pittsburgh might not need him right now but in another couple of years, they could. If his price goes down and he would be comfortable playing meaningful snaps at a lesser rate then it is possible. These brothers have to want to play on the same team before retirement and the Steel City seems like the best possible option for that.
