While the Steelers have been fairly quiet so far in free agency, that could change once players begin getting cut as cap casualties during training c.amp

While the Steelers made strides to improve their offensive line this offseason, they will take an extremely young unit into this upcoming season.

The team lost longtime starters David DeCastro, Maurkice Pouncey, and Alejandro Villanueva this offseason, with DeCastro being released, and possibly retiring, Pouncey retiring and Villanueva leaving in Free Agency. They also lost Matt Feiler in Free Agency, meaning that Zach Banner is the only returning starter from last season, and he tore his ACL in the first game of the season.

In efforts to replace them, the team selected Kendrick Green in the third round of the NFL Draft to replace Pouncey at center and selected Dan Moore Jr. to help out at the tackle position. In Free Agency, they signed Trai Turner, a five-time Pro Bowler at offensive guard, and brought back swingman B.J. Finney for depth along the interior.

As it currently sits, the Steelers projected starting offensive line looks like this:

Left Tackle: Chukwuma Okorafor

Left Guard: Kevin Dotson

Center: Kendrick Green

Right Guard: Trai Turner

Right Tackle: Zach Banner

This group is extremely inexperienced, but the team seems content with what they have on the interior, but could definitely use some help at the tackle position, particularly left tackle. With Training Camp approaching fast, there will be cap casualties for nearly every NFL team, and with David DeCastro’s release, the Steelers have cap space to make at least one addition, likely more.

One of these signings should be an edge rusher, but in this article, I will look at the other spot the Steelers need to make a move at, which is offensive tackle. The following players are offensive linemen who could be playing for a new team at the start of next season, who the Steelers should take a look at.
