Chris Hubbard

Chris Hubbard spent the beginning of his career in Pittsburgh, as he was a Steeler from 2013-2017. He left the Steelers in Free Agency when the Cleveland Browns offered him a five-year contract worth $37.5 million.

While he has been a starter for some of his time in Cleveland, Hubbard has not lived up to the contract he signed. As a result, the Browns brought in Jack Conklin and Jedrick Wills Jr. over the last few seasons, and Hubbard no longer starts. At his salary, it would come as no surprise if the Browns opt to let him go, in order to save money.

If he hits Free Agency, the Steelers could look to target him, due to his ability to play either tackle position, as well as moving inside to play guard. While he may not be a guaranteed starter on the outside, Hubbard is familiar with Pittsburgh, which could make him more likely to sign with them, and he would add plenty of experience and versatility to the Steelers’ young offensive line unit.

Like the others, look for a contract for Hubbard to be a one-year deal, around the league minimum.

Whether or not these three become available remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, the Steelers need to make a move before the season begins to at the very least gain some more depth at offensive tackle. If possible, the team should look for a potential starter at the left tackle position.
