Martavis Bryant, Wide Receiver

Martavis Bryant was a big part of the Steelers explosive offense with the Killer Bees. He might have been the lesser-known one but he was included in that very talented group. Bryant was drafted in the middle rounds out of Clemson because he had prior off-the-field concerns as he got ready to enter the NFL. He got drafted and had a sensational rookie season and beyond while he played for the black and gold.

The issue was Bryant failed to play games with Pittsburgh because of drug usage. It is becoming more debatable that smoking weed should be allowed in the NFL as it becomes more and more legal in the United States, but this was not too popular of an opinion years ago.

Bryant would be suspended for a handful of games and then eventually for an entire season at one point in his career. The Steelers made a head-scratching move at the time to trade Bryant to the Raiders for a third-round selection in the draft but that worked out for the Steelers as he continued to have issues away from football. He would continue to try and get back into the NFL only to fail because of past issues with drug usage.

He is now playing in the CFL where he is currently suspended. This player was so explosive and talented that there was something special there. He could have been the next great receiver in the NFL if he would’ve stayed away from smoking a banned substance in the league.
