Jarvis Jones, Linebacker
This list isn’t always about off-the-field issues and Jarvis Jones is the prime example of that. He was selected by the Steelers with their first-round selection coming out of Georgia in 2013. He had an amazing collegiate career that saw him break many pass-rushing records at the collegiate level. He was seen as a prime candidate for Pittsburgh as they were seeking edge help. Jones was mocked to the team in every projection because of the fit and talent level. As the draft got closer, some medical and physical testing issues began to come out that did not favor this prospect. Draft night came and the Steel City selected this player to hopefully carry on the long line of pass-rushing dominance on defense.
They got a player that was not able to show any form of pass-rush ability at the NFL level. He did not show any glimpses of the player he was for the Georgia Bulldogs and that was a huge issue. This player would become one of the biggest busts in the Kevin Colbert era. It is not too often that Colbert and his staff miss on early-round prospects but they missed on Jones.
His stint in the league would only last four seasons, three of those being in Pittsburgh. He just could not take that leap to the next level and develop into any kind of pass-rusher. Many expected big things out of this player coming out of college but instead, they got a guy that could not stick around the NFL for longer than four years.
