The Steelers just released their first depth chart of the pre-season and there are some surprises.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are early on in the training camp process. They will be going through training camp and the rest of the pre-season to determine who will be sticking on the final 53 man roster. The first depth chart just dropped and it had some eye-brow-raising positioning when it came to where some players were put.

This is just the first depth chart so this will alternate as the pre-season continues further. Players wearing the black and gold still have a ton of time to convince coaches that they deserve a bigger role on this team through games and practices before the actual season begins. Some other notable things on the depth chart are Dwayne Haskins as the third-string quarterback, Tre Norwood as the backup free safety, and Jordan Berry over Pressley Harvin III as the starting punter.

Isaiah Buggs is the backup Nose Tackle

Isaiah Buggs is going into a make-or-break year his NFL career. He has had enough time to grow from his college days into a pro and this time around could be his last real shot at contributing to Pittsburgh. Surprisingly, he is the backup at Nose Tackle because he is not expected to make the team coming out of training camp. This listing should give him some hope and confidence going forward.

There is a lot of time between now and the regular season but that has to be a good look if you are Buggs. The spot will be battled for between him and Carlos Davis. His competition is younger and has more of an upside at this point in their respective football careers.
