DT Carlos Davis

Carlos Davis and Isaiah Buggs got into a few scuffles last year on the sidelines, and I wouldn’t be shocked if the same happened again in 2021. These two could be fighting for one roster spot on the team, and it’s hard to say at this point who the Steelers would pick if they had to choose between the two.

At the moment, Buggs is slightly ahead of Davis on the depth chart. However, both players are mostly unproven and are almost identical in age. Where Davis might have a slight advantage is with his size and athletic traits. At 6’2” and 313 pounds, Davis has crazy explosion with his blazing 4.82-speed. On the other hand, the 303-pound Buggs tested as an awful athlete entering the NFL.

Both players have their work cut out for them this offseason, and it could come down to which player impresses more during practice or even in preseason games this year. There’s a chance that both could make the roster, but considering how they essentially offer the same thing, Pittsburgh could be down another Kevin Colbert draft pick in 2021.

Colbert has been a genius for the Steelers over the past two decades and he has strung together a few championship rosters. Unfortunately, not all of his players will make the final cut. It will be interesting to see which of these former draft picks stick around in 2021.
