Steelers winner: Dwayne Haskins

On the flip side of the quarterback competition, Dwayne Haskins had a strong showing during his second preseason outing. While far from perfect, Haskins looked far more composed in the pocket and was key in helping drive the Steelers down the field. He was aided by a successful run game (another positive of this game), but he was also delivering some strong passes.

His touchdown was a product of a penalty, but he still had the awareness to extend the play and take advantage of the opportunity. He also threw a nice pass to connect with Anthony Johnson for the score. He held his own, made the right reads, and checked down passes when there wasn’t anything else available.

At this point, Haskins is in control of the final roster spot at quarterback. He has been strong in camp so far and hasn’t played horribly in the preseason. While Mason Rudolph will still likely be the backup, Haskins is doing enough to stick around and potentially compete once Ben Roethlisberger hangs it up. He was easily the best quarterback against the Eagles, and he should continue that solid play for the rest of the offseason.

The Steelers pulled off their second win of the preseason against the Eagles, and the team as a whole had a solid outing. While some players shined, others struggled with their roles. Keep these winners and losers in mind as the Steelers hope to finalize their depth chart soon.
