DL Isaiahh Loudermilk

Much like Dan Moore, Isaiahh Loudermilk has been a rookie that has quietly impressed in the early going. Also like Dan Moore, Loudermilk has graded out as a top-5 player in the 2021 NFL preseason so far, according to Pro Football Focus.

In live time, there is plenty to watch with 10 other Steelers on the field. However, Loudermilk continued to catch my eye. Though he didn’t hog up to the stats in the box score, he certainly made a few splash plays.

In addition to being consistently stout against the run, Loudermilk got pressure on the quarterback – resulting in a half-sack, a tackle for a loss, and a quarterback hit. Like his mentor, Cam Heyward, Loudermilk also disrupted passing lanes and swatted a pass down at the line of scrimmage. The 6’6” defensive lineman was quite active in this game.

It’s hard to say what Loudermilk’s role will be with the team in 2021, and he may not play much unless injuries occur. However, he has been quite impressive in the early going.

There were other Steelers players who impressed against the Eagles in their second preseason game of 2021, but these five guys really made a case for themselves this week. It will be interesting to see what the coaching staff makes of their performances moving forward.
