The Steelers could see these names go into the Hall of Fame one day but it doesn’t seem likely.

The Steelers historic franchise has had many players come through the doors that had near Hall of Fame careers. Some reached that pinacol while others will struggle to make it into the storied hallways in Ohio. It takes some personnel longer than others to finally make the big event but some never make it at all.

Canton, Ohio is a unique place that allows players of the utmost excellent talent from the NFL to be immortalized forever. Some players hinge on that level and take forever to make it in, or they never do at all. These players and coaches on this list could take a very long time to make it in. That is to say if they ever make it into the storied hall.

David DeCastro, Guard

David DeCastro just retired and it was a short career when compared to other Hall of Fame players. He had a dominant career that saw him get many personal accolades and recognitions. He was well on his way to becoming a potential Hall of Fame guard before hanging up his cleats. Some players decide to retire early for a variety of reasons but DeCastro was still playing great football when he called it quits. He will not make this unique brotherhood formed in Canton.

When you compare him to someone that was just inducted like Alan Faneca, it isn’t very close with personal accolades and so forth. Faneca has plenty more First-Team All-Pro nominations, Pro Bowls, and a Super Bowl to boot. It took Faneca many years to make it into the storied building and it won’t happen for DeCastro. He was well on his way for that potential before hanging up his cleats earlier than most expected.
