What will he bring to the team in 2021?

One thing that has been widely reported is that Mike Tomlin likes Schobert. It makes a lot of sense to like a player that consistently puts up huge numbers for his position. This player will bring a veteran presence with tons of starting experience to a room lacking a seasoned player. Devin Bush should be coming on as a young player and having someone like Schobert will help his growth as well. Spillane could still come into the game on running downs but not much more than that. It seems more and more likely that this newly acquired player will take over the majority of the starting snaps.

The only issue with this player coming over during this time of year is if he will know the playbook enough. Luckily he has the rest of training camp and the two remaining pre-season games but it will be a quick learning curve. He will have to learn this defense fast so this team is set with him as one of the starting middle linebackers come the regular season.

It should be enough time but some players take longer than others to learn the play-calls. This is a great pickup by Kevin Colbert as he adds a solid player at the position for little expense. It will be fun to watch this player do his thing on Sundays for the Steelers.
