Cassius Marsh, Outside Linebacker

Cassius Marsh was brought onto the Steelers late last year and has stuck around thus far. He was anointed the fourth-string outside linebacker spot, which is a fairly decent role in this defense. He has played decently during this training camp but nothing that stands out among the rest. His biggest competition is Jamir Jones. He enters this camp with little NFL experience but he is younger than Marsh. That is another negative going in his direction. Jones has also flashed a lot more potential during their camp battle. He has shown so much that some have wondered if he could make the roster over Marsh. These guys are fighting for the last spot on this roster for the outside linebacker position and it should come down to the wire before the battle concludes.

This veteran does have starting experience and that will help him a good amount when coaches make their final decisions. That alone will not make the difference in a final decision and Marsh has to start stepping up. He might not lose his spot on the final roster but it is becoming in danger every time Jones makes a play, and he has done that so far in practices and the games. Jones is closing in on his competition and that should concern Marsh going forward if he cannot separate himself from this player.
