Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger: 78 overall

No, Ben Roethlisberger is not the same ‘Big Ben’ fans came to know back in his glory days. He’s pushing 40 years old and is not even two years removed from major elbow surgery on this throwing arm to repair three detached ligaments in his elbow. In addition, Ben pretty much lost his mobility and he can’t make nearly as many plays down the field.

Even considering all of these factors, they didn’t have to do Roethlisberger dirty like this. I believe his 78 overall grade is the lowest he’s had on a Madden he’s had since his rookie season, and he’s tied for just the 16th best quarterback on the game with rookie Trevor Lawrence.

While it’s hard to argue too much about the players ranked ahead of him, it’s interesting to note how far his rating is behind some other NFL quarterbacks. Baker Mayfield, for example, has been given an overall rating of 84 this year despite modest numbers in 2020. In addition, Ryan Tannehill’s 87 overall grade is 9 points higher than Big Ben’s.

Just one rating point behind him on the list is Detriot’s Jared Goff, who could end up being the worst starting quarterback in football this season. It’s also worth noting that Jimmy Garoppolo and Cam Newton are just two points behind Roethlisberger.
