Steelers offensive line can’t get it together

I’ve essentially said the same thing about the Steelers offensive line through the first two weeks, and unfortunately, nothing changes this week. While I am hopeful that this unit can grow throughout the year, to expect them to play perfectly from the first game is unlikely. This week against the Lions is big though, as the Steelers projected starting line is getting their first game experience together.

Against the Eagles, this group showed some improvement, but this week will be far more telling. Everyone will be playing next to who they will be in the regular season, and any deficiencies will be on display to the league and to the team. I expect some positive plays, most likely in the run game, but I don’t think this group suddenly plays like an elite group. Don’t be surprised to see some blown assignments this week.

Circle Kevin Dotson and Zach Banner’s names as ones to watch. Both have seen limited time in camp due to injuries, but both are expected to be the top starters for this team. As well, keep an eye on Trai Turner. Despite his accolades as a player, he has seemingly been the worst starter along the line through camp. Sure, there should be some positives this week, but don’t be surprised if there is still a lot of struggle from this top group.
