The Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Detriot Lions in a contest that will feature the starters to being the game. Here are the questions that need to be answered.

I love watching preseason football, but it’s important not to delve too heavily into individual performances as there are numerous factors that go into play during exhibition action. In their first two preseason games, there were plenty of positives to take away. However, there are even more questions that still need to be answered.

Though we may only see the starters for the first quarter in this contest, that’s a bigger sample than what we have seen from them so far this summer. Here are four questions the Pittsburgh Steelers must answer against the Detroit Lions:

Does Ben Roethlisberger still have it?

Whether you were a fan of the decision to allow Ben Roethlisberger to come back as the starter in 2021 or not, he’s the quarterback for this team. So much rides on the shoulders of Big Ben and what we see out of his arm could dictate how the Steelers offense is going to look this season.

Forget about the statistical output he will have against the Lions. That doesn’t really matter. What we need to be looking for is that Ben has more velocity on his throws than we saw last season. I’m also very interested in seeing how often he looks to push the ball down the field against the Lions – something he didn’t seem to do often at training camp this summer.

The team lives and dies by the arm of Ben Roethlisberger, and I’m anxious to see if his arm looks stronger after another year removed from major elbow surgery.
