Benny Snell Jr., Running back

Benny Snell Jr. is entering a season where he has a chance to make some significant strides. Unfortunately for him, the health aspect has crept into his pre-season woes. He has been sidelined for the majority of the pre-season process up to this point and the loss of reps is concerning for him going forward. Snell seems more likely to stay than go at this point but if a team came calling, the Steelers should listen. He has not been as advertised since entering the NFL out of Kentucky but he still could grow as a player.

His tough style of running is something most fans in Pittsburgh were super excited to watch, but Snell hasn’t been able to show much of that. He is a stopgap player that can start in a pinch but is mostly just a role player. He is brought down much easier in this league than he was at the college level. Some teams require running back depth and with how the black and golds roster has performed without him, maybe it’s worth taking a look at the trade situation. Anthony McFarland Jr. and Kalen Ballage have had great camps and seem like they will make the opening roster. Having four players at that position make your final 53 is something uncommon for this team but it could happen if Snell sticks around.
