Josh Dobbs, Quarterback

Josh Dobbs has been the odd-man-out in Pittsburgh before and it seems like that more and more every day yet again. Ben Roethlisberger, Mason Rudolph, and Dwayne Haskins seem to be locks to make the Steelers final roster. Dobbs will be the one released or traded before the regular season starts up. It would not be the first time that this quarterback was traded from the black and gold for some future draft capital.

He was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019 for a 2022 fifth-round selection. That is a pretty solid return for a player that would have been released otherwise. He is a good backup with a unique ability to move his legs. His pre-season play is always something exciting to watch as this guy is a gamer. He always makes it a difficult decision for the coaching staff time and time again.

Unfortunately for this player, he hasn’t had much of a chance to prove himself ever since Haskins has joined the team. Nothing against Haskins, he has played well since coming over, but Dobbs deserved more chances. As practices begin to wind down and games start to fade away, it seems like so are his chances of making this team. He is good enough to be on an NFL roster but it just seems like that will be somewhere else. A team looking for a backup or solid third-string guy should come calling and the Steelers could get another solid return again.
