James Washington, Wide receiver

James Washington was reported to have asked for a trade during the pre-season over his lack of playing time. That is no slight to the team as this player truly does deserve more opportunities this season. It is a very talented and deep-receiving group but Washington has solid talents in his own right. He wants that recognized through his playing time. That report has simmered down ever since it came out but he did say to reporters that the Steelers and he had a conversation. It sounded like the team told him they will give him opportunities as they arise and they’re not going to trade him anytime soon. The trade value would be hard to match what the team would want in return for a player like Washington.

He is the best fourth-receiver in the NFL and it’s not even close. Bringing JuJu Smith-Schuster back is a major concern for Washington and what kind of role he will play this year. It was supposed to be his breakout season but now he will have to wait again. The black and gold like to use their receivers a lot so this player should get his wish of more playing time. Trading him away almost seems impossible without getting a poor return. Kevin Colbert is one of the best General Managers in the league and he will not get rid of a player of such talent for nothing. Expect this receiver to stay unless Pittsburgh gets blown away with a trade offer that they couldn’t refuse.

The Steelers will have a lot of work before they get down to their final roster. Some trades could be in order as every team around the NFL looks to improve.
