The Pittsburgh Steelers have had some impressive performers in the 2021 NFL preseason so far. Here are three players who have stood above the rest.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have just one preseason game left against the Carolina Panthers on Friday night – just four days before they will be forced to cut their 80-man roster down to 53 players. Fortunately, these preseason games have given us some remarkable insight as to which players have risen to the occasion.
While there have been several big disappointments this summer (which I will expand on in a separate article), there have been a few players who have really turned heads. Upon further examination of the film, here are three Steelers who have stood above the rest so far in preseason action:
1. OG Kevin Dotson
Kevin Dotson didn’t see the field against the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame Game, as he was still nursing his way back to full health. However, in these last two preseason games against the Eagles and Lions, he’s been utterly brilliant.
Just three weeks ago, Mike Tomlin wouldn’t even come out and say that Dotson was assured a starting job. Now, he’s easily been the best offensive lineman on the team. For my money, he’s been the best overall player on the Steelers during preseason action.
Dotson followed up an outrageous 94.5 overall grade against the Eagles, via Pro Football Focus, with another spectacular performance against the Lions last week. He’s as strong as a bull and a terrific athlete for the position. Dotson has been just as impressive in pass protection as he has been paving roads on the ground. He’s been the best player on the Steelers during the preseason so far.
