The Pittsburgh Steelers play on the road against the Carolina Panthers to close the preseason. Here are the odds, injuries, predictions, and how to watch.

If the NFL preseason was a playoff run, the Steelers would be headed to the Super Bowl right now. While it’s important not to read too much into exhibition performances, Pittsburgh has done quite well for themselves this summer – starting the preseason with a 3-0 record (including the Hall of Fame Game).

When their starters took the field in the first half against the Detriot Lions last week, things went swimmingly as the Steelers outscored their opponent 20-0 in the first two-quarters of action. Now, they will play at Carolina for their final preseason game that should feature primarily second and third-string players.

So far, you would have been wise to bet on the Steelers win each of their first three matchups. Here are the odds for preseason Week 3 as well as my predictions for the game:

Steelers vs Panthers Odds Preseason Week 3

According to WynnBET, the Carolina Panthers are favored to win against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a spread of 3.5 points. To bet the moneyline, Pittsburgh is +160 and the Panthers are -190.

For those who are unfamiliar, +160 means that if you bet $100, you would win an additional $160 (total payout of $260). The Panthers, meanwhile, are -190. This means that you would need to bet $190 to win an additional $100 (total payout of $290).

Pittsburgh is +3.5 against the spread with -105 odds, while the Panthers are -3.5 at -115 odds. To bet on the Steelers this way means that you can still win even if Pittsburgh loses by 3 points or less; whereas betting on the Steelers on the moneyline means they must win the game.

Steelers Injury Report vs Panthers

Thankfully, Pittsburgh has avoided major injuries this summer, but most of their starters could be sitting this contest out as they prepare to face the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.

T.J. Watt and Stephon Tuitt have not played with the team all summer, and they won’t do so again vs the Panthers this week. Of the starters who do play, Chase Claypool and Zach Banner are both listed questionable and are likely scratches this week.

Meanwhile, the Panthers have just two questionable players in their starting lineup in WR DJ Moore and LB Denzel Perryman. Both could sit out as a precaution in addition to several other starters.

Steelers vs Panthers Prediction Preseason Week 3

The Steelers have won each of their first three games this summer, but I’m not sure if I would assume they are going to come away with this contest. Early reports suggest the Panthers still intend to play most of their starters, while Pittsburgh will deploy their second-string to begin the game.

In addition, Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph have been ruled out for this game. While Pittsburgh has competent backup quarterbacks in Dwayne Haskins and Josh Dobbs who could lead this team to points, they likely won’t be able to overcome the talent gap of playing against the Panthers starters.

Judging by the information we have so far, I think taking the Panthers to cover the spread is a pretty solid bet with reasonably good odds (-115). I would avoid betting the point total this week that is set at 35.0 points.
