Pittsburgh Steelers preseason 2022 NFL seven-round mock draft
TRADE: The Pittsburgh Steelers trade pick 18 to the Indianapolis Colts for picks 24 & 88
Round 1, Pick 24: Brandon Joseph, Safety, Northwestern
Brandon Joseph has had an incredible career at Northwestern as a Wildcat. Their secondary has been one of the best in the Big Ten Conference. Joseph has been a big part of their program’s development into one of the top groups in the country over the last couple of seasons.
This player will easily be a first-round selection in April if he continues his current pace. He makes flashy plays and is a solid Strong Safety. The Steelers are going to desperately need a starter there with Terrell Edmunds likely gone after this year. Joseph would be an upgrade for a replacement and would help Minkah Fitzpatrick to finally get a solid starting partner in the secondary.
Pittsburgh traded back with the Colts and got more draft selections by picking up an extra third-round pick by moving back. These are all projections with this draft simulator but one that makes fair sense as the black and gold move back six spots. They still get a really good player while also getting a pick, which they need after not having many of their selections on day three. This would be a great scenario as the team moves back to get an extra high draft choice and still gets a solid day one starter for their secondary that desperately needs it.
