Najee Harris has a diverse skillset that Mike Tomlin and company are in love with. Let’s dive into how Najee will transform how the Steelers run their offense.

Najee Harris is an uber-talented running back out of the University of Alabama, where he broke Derrick Henry’s touchdown record. Harris is a three-down skillset back with excellent power and receiving abilities.

The first and biggest change Najee will bring to the Steelers offense is the ability to get ahead of schedule on offense often, setting up for more efficient passing opportunities on second and third down scenarios. This may not seem like a huge deal at first glance, but take last season for example.

Consistency

How many times did the Steelers offense run out onto the field for a drive, run the ball for no gain on first down, and have issues passing the ball on second, third, and ten? Najee brings the ability to chop those yardage totals down on first down which is huge for sustaining longer drives and moving the chains on offense.

After seeing Najee Harris perform in the first two weeks of preseason action, he looks 100% as advertised. Harris is primed for a big season in Pittsburgh that will hopefully help spring the Steelers to yet another winning season under Mike Tomlin. Not only does Najee help this season for the men of steel, but he also helps with their future.

Could you imagine how bad this offense would be without a stable running back, AND no stable QB? Najee should be the glue that holds this team together going forward, a lot can be fixed with a good run game.
