Steelers DL: Henry Mondeaux over Isaiahh Loudermilk

I was excited that Henry Mondeaux made the final roster for the Steelers (at least initially). A knee injury to Stephon Tuitt recently forced him to land in IR. However, when he returns, one defensive lineman will likely be gone.

When it comes to the depth of the defensive line, I was interested to find Mondeaux listed ahead of Isaiahh Loudermilk on the depth chart. While Loudermilk is an inexperienced rookie, the Steelers spent a future fourth-round pick to move back into the 2021 NFL Draft and acquire him.

Meanwhile, I didn’t see anyone besides myself even predicting Henry Mondeaux to make the Steelers 53-man roster. With Chris Wormley set to be the primary backup 5-technique this year, Pittsburgh felt it necessary to keep two more of the same position with Mondeaux and Loudermilk.

We knew the rookie was safe this year based on his strong summer and the draft capital the team recently spent. As long as Mondeaux is on the team this year, it will be interesting to see if he in fact earns more playing time than Loudermilk in 2021.
