The Pittsburgh Steelers recently made some changes to their 53-man roster. Here are four players whose stock has elevated as a result.

Although the Pittsburgh Steelers able to cut their roster down to just 53 players by the August 31st deadline, that apparently didn’t mean that those were the 53 they intended to enter Week 1 with. Unfortunately, DL Stephon Tuitt, OT Zach Banner, and RB Benny Snell recently landed on IR.

While this could prove to be detrimental to the team, other players will now have increased opportunities as a result of some of the recent moves the team has made. With a chance to make a name for themselves entering the Week 1 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, here are four players with soaring stock:

Steelers DL Chris Wormley

Despite being a third-round draft choice by the Baltimore Ravens back in 2017 and boasting phenomenal numbers at the NFL Combine, Chris Wormley had never really gotten the chance to be anything more than a quality rotational defensive lineman. He started his career with a stacked DL group in Baltimore before joining Pittsburgh last year in a group that is probably even better.

According to Pro Football Reference, Wormley had never played more than 46 percent of defensive snaps in a single season. While he’s not guaranteed to get an opportunity to exceed this in 2021, he will have a chance to prove himself as the starter alongside Cameron Heyward while Stephon Tuitt is on IR.

It’s unclear how long Tuitt’s knee injury is going to keep him sidelined, but NFL rules require him to spend at least three weeks in IR before he is allowed to rejoin the team. You better believe that Wormley is going to try to make the most of his opportunities during this time.
