Steelers Mock Draft Rounds 4 through 7

Round 4 – Traded to Dolphins

Round 5 – Traded to Jets

5th Rd (compensatory) – OG/OT – Logan Bruss – Wisconsin – 6-foot-5, 310 pounds

Solid anchor and good hand use. Can latch onto defenders and stop them in their tracks. Wisconsin runs a lot of plays behind Bruss when he’s at guard. Primary pulling guard. Shows adequate mirroring and kickslide at OT. Has versatility as a swing sub with starter potential at OG. Badger O-Linemen are always well-coached.

6th Rd – Traded to Jaguars for Joe Schobert

Funny thing is I had an ILB in this round before the trade. I don’t think we’d get one as good as Schobert. Another great Kevin Colbert roster move.

7th Rd (from Jets) – Nickel back/CB – Chase Lucas – Arizona State – 5-foot-11, 182 pounds – 4.50/40

Lucas is a four-year starter who took the covid mulligan to return for one more year. Lucas is an aggressive man cover back who can compete for covering the slot. In 41 games Lucas has 159 tackles, 11.0 for a loss, two sacks, six interceptions and 22 pass deflections.

7th Rd – NT – John Ridgeway – Arkansas – 6-foot-6, 325 pounds

The new Razorback transfer from Northern Illinois is a massive individual with surprising athleticism. Maybe not great with the interior pass rush but a large run stuffer who is very hard to move. Almost always draws double teams. Can stack and shed blockers. Plays with an attitude. In 30 games he has 102 tackles, eight for a loss, one sack, one interception and four pass deflections.

Summing Up Steelers 2022 mock NFL Draft

The Steelers have put together an impressive roster on both offense and defense. There are still questions about the offensive line and secondary. Also, we have to hope the Steelers receiving corps won’t lead the NFL in dropped passes, again.

Whatever shortcomings there are should become obvious, pretty quickly when the regular season begins. Do you agree with the potential roster holes I’m talking about? Are you psyched about the start of the new season?

Go Steelers!
