The Steelers open the season on the road against the Bills on Sunday afternoon. Here are five key matchups heading into Week 1.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing to start their 2021 season on Sunday afternoon as they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills.

Pittsburgh is heading into this season with a chance to prove to the NFL that it’s a contender by facing one of the toughest opponents of the season in the first game of the year, a team that gave the Steelers one of their few losses from last season.

The Bills ended their 2020 season with a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game and are once again favorites to repeat what they did last year.

Perhaps go even further.

There are many key matchups in this game in order for Pittsburgh to start out the season with a win.

Here are five key matchups to watch on Sunday.

Steelers secondary vs. Stephon Diggs

One of the biggest problems in the loss last season to the Bills was not being able to cover Stephon Diggs successfully.

Diggs finished the game against Pittsburgh with 10 catches, 130 yards receiving, and a touchdown. If the Steelers are going to have a chance in containing Josh Allen’s offense, they have to find a way to take Diggs out of the game.

The entire secondary needs to be prepared to cover Diggs on Sunday. Joe Haden should not shadow Diggs the entire game, as that would turn into a nightmare waiting to happen.
