The Steelers open up their 2021 regular season on the road against the Bills, and you’ll need to know this last-minute information for Week 1.
After months of waiting, it’s time to see how the Pittsburgh Steelers can match up against one of the top contenders in the AFC, the Buffalo Bills, when both teams square off for a Week 1 matchup in western New York.
Pittsburgh, coming off a 12-4 finish the previous year and a first-place berth in the AFC North, nevertheless have plenty of questions about how it’ll finish up in 2021, particularly with concerns about quarterback Ben Roethlisberger‘s arm strength and how a shaky offensive line in front of him could be a liability.
Needless to say, setting a tone early should surely help matters a lot, and getting that massive contract done for EDGE T.J. Watt sure helps matters, too.
Steelers injury report vs. Bills Week 1
The following players were listed on Pittsburgh’s injury report this week:
- DE Tyson Alualu (elbow) — probable
- LB Alex Highsmith (groin) — questionable
- C Kendrick Green (thumb) — questionable
Green was limited, but it sure seems as if the rookie will be a full go as the new anchor of the black and gold’s reworked O-line.
Steelers vs. Bills odds and betting pick Week 1
The oddsmakers over at WynnBET have Pittsburgh as a 6.5-point road underdog to Buffalo in Week 1 with the over/under set at 48.0.
It’s not hard to understand why, as Bills quarterback Josh Allen has quickly risen to become one of the top signal-callers in the league, and even a still-potent Steelers defense might have difficulty containing him, particularly with some notable holes within the secondary.
If Pittsburgh’s offense remains balanced and chews up some clock, thereby keeping Allen and Co. off the field as much as possible, there might be a decent fighting chance.
For now, though, Pittsburgh probably falls on the road to Buffalo by a score of 24-17 and just barely fails to cover.
