3 things we learned from Steelers Week 1 win over Bills
By Eric Hassel
The Steelers pulled off an upset win on the road over the Bills in Week 1, generating these three key takeaways from the victory.
All the anticipation, all the excitement, and all the hopes of a championship 2021 NFL season for the Pittsburgh Steelers commenced with a road game against the playoff-hopeful Buffalo Bills.
Honestly, I did not think Pittsburgh would win this game. But, somehow, it did by pulling off the 23-16 come-from-behind Week 1 victory.
Call it good luck, call it good play in the second half or call it whatever you want to call it, the Steelers earned a much-needed win against a conference opponent on the road to begin the season. Things were looking pretty bleak in the first half of the game, but whatever adjustments were made in the second half of the game proved to be the difference.
If you look at the box score without knowing who won the game, you would conclude Pittsburgh lost the game. The Steelers were outpaced on first downs, total plays, total yards, and time of possession.
Typically, when the aforementioned happens, a loss occurs. However and fortunately, that did not come to fruition.
Look, it’s great that the black and gold won, but if you watched the game, you undoubtedly were left with the same thought I had, which is this: Pittsburgh has a ton of work to do in every phase of the game. No win is perfect and this win was far from it, but it’s always better to work on issues with a win under the collective belt.
So, what did we learn from this win? Let’s take a look.
