Steelers edition of the ‘Wizard of Boz’

Entering Sunday’s game, Chris Boswell improved his record to 32 consecutive field goals from inside 40 yards and was tied for the fifth longest streak.

Also, Boswell had the second longest streak entering the game of 14 straight field goals in the fourth quarter and overtime.

With his field goal in the fourth quarter, he improved that to 15 straight.

Stuffing the punter

The Steelers blocked a punt against the Bills returning it for a touchdown. It’s the first blocked punt on an opening day returned for a touchdown of the season since Sept. 10, 2017, when Anthony Chickillo returned a blocked Britton Colquitt punt for a touchdown.

Also, it’s only the second time since 1972 when Henry Davis returned a Jerry Depoyster punt for a touchdown when Pittsburgh played the Raiders on opening day.

A Steelers first

The season opener is the first game in Steelers’ history that opponents scored 10 points and shut Pittsburgh out in the first half, only for the Steelers to win by a score of 23-16 by outscoring their opponent 23-3 in the second half.

The Steelers’ next game will be against the Raiders. Fans can always expect the unusual to occur when those two teams face each other.

And who knows, now that Pittsburgh has another young rookie named Harris rushing the ball, maybe fans can expect something immaculate to occur.
