4 burning questions Steelers must answer vs. Bengals
By Andrew Falce
Can the Steelers rush the ball effectively?
To say that the Steelers rushing offense and Najee Harris have gotten off to a slow start would be an understatement. Through the first two weeks, Harris has rushed for a total of 83 yards and averaged a paltry 3.2 yards per carry. While he has flashed some burst and playmaking ability, it hasn’t been consistent enough. Overall, the first-round pick has been underwhelming.
Now, the offense as a whole is having a similar issue, as the group can’t seem to consistently play well so far. The running game is no exception, and the offensive line has done little to open holes for Harris. That said, the Steelers took him in the first round for a reason, and at some point, he will need to produce even if he is still behind a mediocre line. If not, then the team should have looked elsewhere with their first pick.
Luckily for the Steelers, the Bengals have been below average at stopping the run to this point. Their front seven has some speed, but it hasn’t been able to come together to effectively stop rushing offenses yet. They face a weak offensive line though, so that could realistically change. That said, the Steelers have to get a balanced attack going on offense. They invested a first-round pick into Harris, and it is time for him to prove he’s worth it.
