Is a Steelers trade for Aaron Rodgers even plausible?

What do the Steelers Trade

This is where the rubber meets the road. A team wanting to trade for a player of Rodgers’s stature would normally have to give up a lot in normal circumstances. As with Minka Fitzpatrick, the Steelers gave up their 2020 number one pick to bring in someone else’s number one draft pick from 2018 by sacrificing their 2020 selection. It worked.

This situation is not normal, though. The Packers would be giving up Rodgers for several reasons. First, economically, he is no longer viable for the Packers. Secondly, the Packers have his replacement on the bench Jordan Love, and third, he’s nearing the end of his career; he does not have many playing years left.

Any trade, in this case, is fairly mutual. More than likely, Big Ben retires, and Rodgers wants to leave Green Bay. What would the packers want in return? In this scenario, it’s hard to fathom it would involve the Steelers sending any players to Green Bay, although it’s not beyond the realm of possibility.

So if it’s for draft picks, what is Rodgers’s value? The Steelers do not have much draft capital to burn in 2022. They traded their 4th pick for a 2021 5th round pick (Loudermilk), their 6th pick for Avery Williamson with a 7th round pick, and the Steelers traded their 6th round selection for Joe Shobert.
