Is a Steelers trade for Aaron Rodgers even plausible?

Will a trade happen

A trade for Rodgers could benefit Pittsburgh, no doubt. Will it happen, though? That depends on the current Steelers quarterback.

Rumors have it, and even Big Ben has hinted he may retire at the end of this season. It’s not the first time he has suggested it or contemplated it. That said, Ben is a competitor and would like another title before he calls it quits. If he has gas in the tank, sure, he could come back next year.

However, it’s obvious, unlike Tom Brady, Big Ben may not be able to keep ticking. Every clock finally winds down. So if Ben does retire after the 2021 season, then perhaps a trade is more likely.

Even then, it’s still hard seeing the Steelers go straight for Rodgers, and it seems more like the Steelers to look to the future and draft a replacement. If they do that, though, and it fails, the Steelers will hear the constant criticism you could have traded for Rodgers. If a draftee does work out, no one will care that the Steelers could have traded for Rodgers.

The bandwagon Steelers fans would love to see them trade for Rodgers. While the Steelers fans born in Pittsburgh somehow might see this as cheapening Roethlisberger’s legacy and would much rather see the Steelers draft a replacement.

At the end of the day, it seems more wishful thinking that any such trade would happen and there is no guarantee it will. Even if it does, that’s not to say the Steelers will ultimately benefit from the trade, and it could end up a disaster; who knows?

Indeed, at least until we see where Aaron Rodgers does land, you will keep seeing articles online suggesting this is the Steeler’s best option. Although if it did happen, do you allow Rodgers to wear number 12? Some black and gold fans would find that a tough pill to swallow
