Steelers contain Adams

The Packer’s offense consists of two primary weapons (besides quarterback Aaron Rodgers): Aaron Jones and Davante Adams. While Jones will get his fair share of touches as both a receiver and a runner, Adams will be the primary target for Rodgers to throw to. While he certainly won’t be stopped, I think the Steelers do a great job to contain him.

The Steelers did the exact same thing in weeks one and two, as the Bills and Raiders’ primary receiving threat (Stefon Diggs and Darren Waller respectively) were held to only modest days. The team will likely have Joe Haden and Cameron Sutton focus on Adams and could use Minkah Fitzpatrick to bracket him in coverage as well.

This certainly won’t stop Adams from seeing his fair share of targets, but it should limit how effective he is with them. The Steelers’ goal should be to limit Adams to what Diggs did in week one: five-eight receptions for 80 or fewer yards. This means he doesn’t beat you deep or find the end zone multiple times. It’s impossible to stop a player like that but limiting him would go a long way in having a chance to win this game.
