The Steelers dropped another game, this time to the Green Bay Packers. Here’s what we learned.

Well, I don’t know about you, but I think it’s time for the Steelers to not only ‘hit the panic button’, but to ‘clean house’ on both sides of the ball.  We will get into that momentarily, but if you watched the game, you had hope going into halftime.  After halftime, it was all downhill.

The reality is this:  We are not a very good football team right now (and I do mean right now) because I believe we can get back on the winning track, but it going to take both courage and fortitude.

By that I mean that is going to take courage to make some tough decisions and it is going to require inner fortitude from both players and coaches to accomplish those goals. Let’s take a look at the first thing we learned:

The Steelers offense is ineffectual unless ‘Big Ben’ is calling the plays

Make no mistake, Ben Roethlisberger can and frankly should just call his own plays. Look, I understand we have an offensive coordinator, but with the exception of the opening drive that produced a TD, the offensive was ineffective until late in the fourth quarter when we went ‘no-huddle’, ‘up-tempo’, or whatever you want to call it.

In that circumstance, ‘Big Ben’ was calling the plays and led the offense to a late TD that cut the lead to ten points.  Unfortunately, it was too little, too late. My question is this:  If the offense is not moving the ball with any alacrity, why not just go ‘no-huddle’ or ‘up-tempo’?

The offense gained less than three hundred yards.  Something has to give.  Something has to change.  If no changes are made on the offensive side of the ball, we will bemoan more losses this season and that means the season will be over.

Let’s take a look at the second thing we learned.
