Pierre shows up for the Steelers

A minor disappointment so far for the Steelers, Pierre has seen his snap counts progressively get reduced on defense. Arthur Maulet has taken on some more slot duties, so Pierre has become more of a rotational defender for the defense. He has taken his lumps, but everything hasn’t been awful for the former undrafted rookie. He has been a sound tackler and has made a couple of decent plays in coverage.

While I think his snap share stays in the 30-40 percent range this week, I think he makes an impact in this game. Covering Tim Patrick, Pierre makes a key pass breakup early that forces the Broncos to punt. Later, on a deep streak for Patrick, Pierre hangs with him and picks off the contested pass, the first interception of his career and the second overall for this defense.

While his play continues to be streaky, Pierre has his best performance as a Steelers player so far. The interception stops the Broncos from keeping the ball moving in the second half and his overall solid play earns him some more playing time going forward. There are still some improvements that need to be made in coverage, but Pierre puts up some solid tape in week five.
