Ben Roethlisberger looked better… but still not great
Just looking at the box score in this contest, you would have thought that Ben Roethlisberger had a nearly flawless performance. While there are many parts of his performance that deserve ample praise, it’s also important to remember that this game could have gone very differently.
On three separate occasions, three individual Denver defenders had both hands on the football and dropped easy interceptions. Ben’s worst decision of the day was when he tried to hit Najee Harris in the flat, but the ball was slow getting there and was undercut by the defender — a play he probably could have taken to the house if he would have held on.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the fact that Big Ben was willing and able to find receivers down the field as often as he did in this contest. However, he’s got to cut down on some of his poor throws and questionable decisions. With a bit more concentration by Broncos defenders, the outcome of this game could have been very different.
Still, I want to give credit where credit is due, as Roethlisberger was able to throw some really nice passes beyond 10 air yards in this contest — something I have been critical of in the past. If he continues to look down the field, good things will happen with this offense.
