QB Ben Roethlisberger

Ben Roethlisberger looked very good for the most part on Sunday. He has been saying during his press conferences that he needs to be better when throwing the ball, and he was this week. Ben was 15/25 for 253 yards and 2 touchdowns and finished with a 130.0 QBR, the highest of his season, via ESPN.

Some throws that make me think this way is the Chase Claypool touchdown, there were two defenders in the immediate area and it needed to be a high-point pass, and he threw it perfectly.

Another throw was the near interception he threw at the beginning of the game, there was some speed on that ball and Ben has lacked that zip on the football so far. The last throw that showed me he was accurate was the Diontae Johnson touchdown, he put the ball to where only Diontae could get it and he made it look effortless.

Another possible reason why Ben looked more accurate was because he was using his hips more. Roethlisberger has talked about needing to use his lower body more and the hips are one of the main contributors to a deep throw. He did play with a hip injury which he put extra padding on and it seemed to not bother him. Ben had room in the pocket and that definitely improved his game, now let’s hope that it is reoccurring.
